Designed for walking and general mountaineering, the Mountain Shirt is two inches shorter than the Special 6 but otherwise identical.
It still uses the same tough Pertex Classic (Pertex 6) for the outer fabric.
A strap inside the pocket tightens the shirt across the tummy to give extra warmth.
This version of the Mountain Shirt is cut especially for women, with narrower shoulders and waist, greater adjustment over the hips, and less revealing ventilation zips.
Wear it close fitting and next to the skin or at the maximum with a thin nylon sports bra.It is made from fibre pile (quicker wicking than modern fleeces) and what was known as Pertex 6, the heaviest duty Pertex made by Perseverance Mills. It is the same fabric but is now called Pertex Classic. (NB Mountain Shirts used to be made in Pertex 5, a lighter weight fabric than Pertex 6, but this is no longer available).
