Harnesses that are designed primarily for winter, alpine and expedition climbing. Though they can be used for rock climbing too, hanging belays, abseils and falls will be fairly uncomfortable affairs. The most important factors in their design are ease of putting the harness on, particularly when putting it on over crampons in a blizzard at -15ºC, and lightness. At these latter two things they are much better than a cragging harness.
This page shows harnesses suitable for winter, alpine and expedition climbing only - for our full range, including many with buckled leg loops that are suitable for winter use, please see our main Harnesses Page.
