The gloves and knee pads on this page are designed to make climbing in certain circumstances less painful and consequently easier.
Jamming Gloves are fingerless rock shoe rubber-backed things for protecting the backs of your hands whilst hand-jamming and can be used in place of much tedious Yosemite-style taping up. They fix firmly in place with a system of clever Velcro straps and are perfectly comfortable wear. They work well, particularly on gritstone and granite cracks, so well that some consider them cheating, though we can't see how they are cheating any more than taping up is!
Half Finger Gloves are particularly useful for via ferratas where repeatedly holding galvanised cables can irritate the skin, and are also much used for big wall aid climbing.
Full Finger Gloves made of thin high quality leather are good for belaying, abseiling and continuous scrambling over rough rock, such as that encountered on the Cuillin Ridge.
Knee Pads are designed for unusual moves and rests on high standard sport climbs.
