Designed for classical mountaineering and alpinism, the Petzl Summit Evo ice axe is an ideal aze for the winter walker who likes to venture up easier snow gullies and off the beaten track a bit. Lightweight and with a waterjet-formed tube, it offers a very comfortable grip under the head of the axe and the grip of the shaft makes it a precise and efficient ice axe. The forged and well-balanced head gives very good anchoring qualities and the design of the curved shaft provides good clearance on steep, icy terrain.
- Hydroformed handle for good grip at the curve.
- The upper part of the shaft is curved to offer good clearance when climbing.
- The lower part of the shaft is straighter and gives good penetration in snow.
- Head and pick in hot-forged steel, ensuring solid placements.
- Thin (3 mm) pick, durable and toothed at the tip, ensuring good penetration in hard snow and ice
- The pick is thicker in the middle to favour anchoring in soft snow.
- The teeth on upper part of pick strengthen the hold on the ice axe in piolet-rampe mode (descending and placing the pick in front of you).
- Durable ferule spike in stainless steel for very good penetration in hard snow and in piolet-canne mode (descending and placing the ferule/shaft in front of you).
- Very durable steel adze gives a comfortable support surface, and the design of the edges allows steps to be carved efficiently.
- Tilted adze directs the axe correctly into the snow (in piolet-canne usage).
- The head and spike are equipped with holes for clipping in a karabiner or attaching a sling.
- High-quality aluminium shaft (7075 aluminium, used in aeronautics), with anodised finish for protection.
Materials: heat-treated steel, aluminium 7075, stainless heat-treated steel, TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane).
