One of the best beacons in the industry, this compact avalanche transceiver is essential in avalanche-prone terrain. It’s intuitive to use, with a 70m range efficient search support features. To keep you safe on tour, the Barryvox 2 continuously checks its own operation with a self test function. For added safety on rescue operations, the avalanche transceiver is equipped with a rescue SEND function automatically switching from search to send. You can perform updates, configurations and avalanche training on the Mammut app, so you're ready to make for emergencies. A simpler version of the top of the range Barryvox S.

  • Rescue SEND: Protective function for non-searching rescuers. In the event of a secondary avalanche it automatically switches to SEND to allow the rescuer to be located.
  • Auto-revert to SEND: safety function for rescuers searching with an avalanche transceiver in the event of a secondary avalanche burial. If a rescuer does not move for four minutes, the avalanche transceiver automatically switches from SEARCH to SEND thanks to a motion sensor.
  • Automatic self test: your Barryvox® checks your transmit and search function signal when it is switched on and carries out regular transmission and battery tests.
  • Interference Guard: your Barryvox® manages and reduces signal interference and indicates any interference in transmit and search mode.
  • Group check: check the transmission frequency and strength of other avalanche transceivers quickly and easily with this function to ensure correct functionality.
  • Voice guidance: your Barryvox® assists you with additional instructions in all search phases. This feature is currently not available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and the USA.
  • Acoustic search guidance: a sequence of tones guides you in the direction of the buried subject and ensures that you can keep your eyes on the avalanche field during the search.
  • Intuitive visual interface: guides you intuitively through all search phases and provides an overview of multiple burials.
  • Auto-Select: in the event of multiple burials, your Barryvox® will guide you to the strongest signal first.
  • Marking function for multiple burials.
  • Reverse direction function avoids 180-degree search errors.
  • Deep burial mode: if a very deep burial is detected, the fine search automatically starts earlier (> 3m) for precise guidance.
  • Compatible with the Barryvox app for firmware updates, configuration settings, search training with the Barryvox®.
  • Barryvox carrying system (included in delivery): safe and comfortable wearing of the avalanche transceiver on the upper body.

Dimensions: 11.5cm x 6.8cm x 2.1cm.

Weight: c 205g including batteries (supplied) and carrying harness.

Which model do you need?

The standard Barryvox is the simplest beacon and will appeal to those who place the highest priority on simplicity.  The Barryvox has by far the longest range in its class, and new background programming that provides very fast signal pickup and reduces the incidence of signal-overlap during multiple burial searches makes this beacon even easier to use and more effective than its predecessor the Element.

The BarryvoxS  provides the same benefits as the Barryvox, along with some built-in refinements and enhanced functionality. Users will choose to buy the S over the standard for two reasons:

  1. “Auto Guidance” and “Smart Search” background programming provides both new and seasoned users with improved functionality and faster, uninterrupted searches. These features operate in the background in the beacons standard operating mode, so the user doesn't have to "do" anything, simply follow the arrow all the way through the search, which culminates in a "probe here" icon.
  2. Access to the “Pro Search” function in order to definitively tell the user when to switch to an alternate search strategy (micro strips, etc) to quickly identify and solve close-proximity multiple burials involving signal overlap.  Whereas the Pulse had a reputation of being more involved to use in its advanced settings, the far easier user interface and intuitive navigation opens this function up to many recreational users.
