Designed specifically for belaying, the Gridlock is a simple but cunning hot-forged screwgate that eliminates the dangers of cross loading the gate when using a belay plate.
It is simple to use and works by isolating the belay loop behind its uniquely shaped gate, thereby keeping the Karabiner in its proper position - in line with the belay loop and the belay plate.
In addition, its I-beam spine is moulded into a large rounded rope-bearing surface for smooth rope feeding and maximum strength.
In a nutshell, you should never have to deal with a annoying, rotating, cross-loaded belay krab ever again!
It can be used either way round, ie the belay loop can go in the small end or the large end. With double ropes you would need them to run through the large end as there won't be enough room in the small end. However with a Grigri or similar device, attaching these to the small end will centre the device better and mean that it can be unclipped and left in situ on the krab ready to use again.
