A very versatile belay device, the Edelrid Giga Jul can be used in both standard and assisted braking modes and with single or double ropes, and can also be used in guide mode and for abseiling. There is a simple switch mechanism to change from standard to assisted mode.
It is thus suitable for both sport and trad climbing and for instructional use.
