Static (or more correctly, Semi-Static) ropes are available in 9, 10, 10.5, 11 and 11.5mm, and in lengths of 50, 100, 150 and 200m. 10.5mm x 50m is the most popular combination out of this large range (but we can generally obtain other diameters and lengths to order).
They are very low stretch rope suitable for fixing anchors and for abseiling and ascending using some sort of descender or ascender.
We also sell it by the metre (see below).
NB1 Static Ropes must not be used for lead climbing or in any situation where a dynamic fall might be taken. They are designed for abseiling and ascending ropes. Due to their low stretch, they are more suitable than climbing rope for this sort of purpose, though of course climbing rope can be used almost as well.
NB2 Static rope should be soaked in water and then dried out slowly before use. This will shrink it by 5%. The rope is sized overlong to allow for this.
Please note that this rope was previously called Antipodes.
