Selected guide to Scottish rock climbing by well known local on the the scene, Gary Latter. Volume 1 covers the Isle of Arran, The Arrochar Alps, the Isle of Mull, Glen Coe and Glen Etive, Ardgour and Ardnamurchan, Glen Nevis, Ben Nevis, the Central Highlands, the Cairngorms and Easter Ross (but for some inexplicable reason not Galloway).
Over 2000 routes are described north of the Highland Boundary Fault, which is good but makes the guide a rather bulky object to haul up multi-pitch climbs. Although there is a good smattering of Diffs and the like, it is probable that this guide will appeal more to those climbing at VS and above, and for the hard climber, many of Scotland's E numbered test pieces are here.
There have been numerous grade adjustments, improvement in descriptions, some topo corrections and many new improved topos. Several less popular crags and cliffs have been removed, freeing up space for the inclusion of over 270 additional routes. There are also over 60 new photos and more than 100 new topos.
Excellent photo-diagrams and stunning action photos throughout.
