Avignon lies in south-east France not that far from the Mediteranian coast and within fairly easy reach of Grenoble airport. The area is festooned with fine bolted limestone crags and this guide includes details for 52 different cliffs in the area around Mont Ventoux, with 1500 specific routes on 37 different cliffs. There are over 200 colour photos and 119 colour topo diagrams.
In addittion to the normal climbing stuff you would expect to find in this sort of guide there are fairly comprehensive notes on the local wines and how to go about finding some decent stuff to take back on the ferry.
Another nice touch is the reprinting in the back of the book of several topos for the larger crags with the suggestion that you cut them out to take in your pocket on those multipitch routes.
This guidebook has been specifically designed to help any climber on a first visit to the area. It is also multi-lingual and has major information in English and French.
