Growing up on Yorkshire Gritstone James Turnbull has gained an affinity for technical slabs and burly cracks (especially the wider ones!), but would definitely describe himself as an all-rounder, having climbed all over Europe and the USA. Highlight ascents including Bat Route (F8c) at Malham, Natilik (6b/E2) at Ceuse, Imothep (Font 8A) in Fontainebleau, and a particularly memorable bail on Murciana 78, a 14 Pitch F7c+ in the Picos de Europa. After moving to The Lakes in 2023, he quickly worked through such classics as Dawes Rides a Shovelhead E8, Bitter Oasis E4, One Step Beyond E4 and many more. When he’s not at the crag you’ll see him (or more likely not see him) running or mountain biking around the fells.
